It’s A Tough JobI think being a parent is one of the toughest jobs on the planet. Of course you don’t realize how hard the job is until you have children of your own. Now all of a sudden you are responsible for instilling morals and values into these little people. If you think about it too long it gets to be a little overwhelming. But as a parent you teach your child to be honest, responsible, trustworthy and independent. But all of that seems to go out the window when they tell you they want to buy a house. All of a sudden they are 6 years old again!
Parents Can Kill A DealIn case you haven’t experienced it yet (and believe me, you will), parents can kill a deal! Sometimes they are subtle and other times they are more direct. But they can plant the seeds of doubt like no one else. Here’s the scenario…the “child” finds a place they love (after looking at over 20 places), they make an offer and the seller accepts. Before all of the contingencies expire, the parents come to town and want to see what their “child” is buying. Next come the questions or statements…”is this neighborhood safe?” “It seems like a lot of money, do you know what you could buy in (insert state) for this kind of money?” “Seems a little small”. “It sure needs a lot of work”.
Please Void The ContractYou can tell by your buyer’s facial expression that this transaction is heading south. Next thing you know, your buyer wants out of the contract. It’s virtually impossible to override the parents. So much for independent thinking. Be prosperous!
